Jacori Greer begins his first season as a graduate assistant after a four-year career with the Lobos as a defensive end.

Greer now moves from the trenches of the line to the trenches behind the scenes, where he will work with all manner of set-up for the defensive staff. He will help with coding opposing offensive plays for film breakdown, and assist in on-the-field coaching, working mostly with the defensive line.

Greer played for four seasons at UNM, starting as a redshirt junior and redshirt senior. Coaching runs in his family, as his brother Lamont Smith is the associate head coach of the UNM men’s basketball team.

2013 (SENIOR): Named one of four team captains by his teammates ... earned preseason third team All-Mountain West honors from both College Sports Madness and Phil Steele ... started all 12 games, and finished his career with 25 straight starts … totaled 34 tackles on the season including two sacks and three tackles for loss … forced one fumble and broke up two passes … in the season opener vs. UTSA he recorded a sack as part of a three-tackle day … was second on the team in both total tackles (six) and solo stops (four) against UNLV on Sept. 28 and also broke up a pass … at Wyoming on Oct. 12 he forced a fumble and recorded five solo tackles … notched his second sack of the season and totaled five tackles (four solo, one assist) against Colorado State on Nov. 16 … appeared in 39 games in his Lobo career and finished with 95 tackles … recorded eight sacks in his career and 12 tackles for a loss.

2012 (JUNIOR): Started all 13 games at defensive end ... earned All-Mountain West honorable mention honors ... finished with 32 tackles and led the team with eight tackles for loss and five sacks ... recorded his fifth sack of the season against Wyoming on Nov. 10 ... finished with four tackles (two solo, two assist), including 1.5 for a loss, against the Cowboys ... recorded his fourth sack of the season in the second quarter against Fresno State on Oct. 27 ... finished the game against the Bulldogs with five total tackles, four of which were solo ... led all defensive linemen with six tackles (three solo, three assist) against Air Force on Oct. 20 ... recorded two tackles (one solo, one assist), both of which were for a loss, against Hawaii on Oct. 13 ... was second on the defensive line with an overall grade of 83 percent and did not have a single missed assignment against the Warriors ... had a great game against Texas State on Oct. 6 ... had two solo tackles and recorded a sack (his third of the season) for the second straight week ... recorded his second sack of the season against No. 24 Boise State on Sept. 29 ... finished with three total tackles (one solo) against the Broncos ... notched his second tackle for a loss in as many weeks against New Mexico State on Sept. 22. ... recorded his first sack of the season, and second of his career, against Texas Tech on Sept. 15 ... received the highest grade on the defensive line for his efforts against the Red Raiders, receiving a mark of 78 percent on 52 plays ... recorded three solo tackles at No. 17 Texas on Sept. 8 in his second consecutive start.

2011 (SOPHOMORE): Played in all 12 games as a defensive end .. .productive off the bench with 27 tackles ... best game came in a six-tackle effort against Air Force in week eight ... also had back-to-back four-tackle games against Sam Houston State and New Mexico State in weeks four and five, respectively.

2010 (REDSHIRT FRESHMAN): Played in the two games (BYU and TCU) as a back-up ... traveled throughout the year but received an opportunity late in the year due to injuries ... finished the season with two tackles against TCU ... also had his first career sack against the Horned Frogs ... had a key forced fumble that set up a TD for the Lobos ... had two QB hurries.

HIGH SCHOOL: Three-year starter at defensive end ... 62 tackles and 10 sacks for the Trojans as a senior in 2008 ... Newman Smith is in Carrolton, a Dallas suburb ... two-time team captain and first-team All-District 6-5A...played for head coach Paul Ressa ... three-year member of the basketball team, and the Trojans were ranked No. 1 in state Class 4A ... also Academic All-District and a tenor in the high school choir all four years.

PERSONAL: Born Feb. 24, 1991, in Dallas ... full name is Timothy Jacori Greer ... son of Tim and Mary Ann ... older brother Lamont Smith played basketball at the University of San Diego (1994-99) and is currently assistant men's basketball coach for the Lobos ... older sister Kasandra Wilks played basketball at Alabama State in the mid-90s ... graduated in May of 2013 with a degree in Communications ... is interested in athletic administration as a career.
