Carrier Earns National and MW Honor

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- University of New Mexico running back Kasey Carrier earned recognition nationally as well as within the Mountain West on Monday.

Carrier won the College Football Performance Awards National Running Back of the Week honor for his 291 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns during UNM's 42-35 overtime victory over UTEP on Saturday night.

The monster game by the senior from Pearland, Texas also earned Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week honors, the conference announced.

Carrier rushed for the most yards in the young 2013 FBS season on a career-high 41 carries. He scored the game-winner on a 21-yard run in overtime. 

Carrier now owns the top two rushing performances, not only in UNM school history, but also in MW history. His 338-yard effort last year against Air Force remains the record in both the Lobo and the conference record books.

The weekly MW award his his third honor the past two seasons.

Carrier leads the nation in rushing with an average of 172.5 yards per game.
