This Week in UNM Women’s Soccer ... The Lobos will travel for the first-ever meeting between New Mexico and the Colorado State Rams. The Lobos have the conference’s longest unbeaten streak at 2-0-1, while Colorado State has the longest current winless streak at 0-6-2.
The Lobos are coming off a weekend sweep at home of San José State (2-1 in overtime) and Fresno State (1-0), while the Rams are coming off a 2-1 overtime loss at home to Air Force and a 3-0 home loss to Wyoming.
The Lobos are lead in scoring by Dylann O’Connor, who has three goals and an assist for seven points, and Cassie Ulrich, who has four shutouts and a 0.89 goals against average. For the Rams, Erika Bratschun has two goals and an assist, while keepers Maggie Sherman (17 saves, 1.42 GAA) and Elena Eidson (22 saves, 2.40 GAA) have split time in the nets for Colorado State.

The Lobos and Colorado State have never faced off, since the Rams are a first-year program.
It's Sophmoric in a Freshie Sort of Way
New Mexico has nine goals this season with four assists for 22 points. Of those, eight assists and all four assists have come from freshmen or sophomores. The only goal by an upperclassmen was the game-winning goal on a header by senior Brianna Webster.

The win over San José State improved the Lobos to 2-0-1 in overtime this season.

In the 1-0 shutout of Fresno State, Ulrich saved a second half penalty kick that kept the Lobos in the lead and was the most important save of the game. It was the first save of a penalty by a Lobo keeper since Kristen Winters did it in 2002.
In the first 11 seasons under Kit Vela, the Lobos won just five games when the Lobos were trailing at half. However, in the last three years, the Lobos have accomplished that feat three times, including the win over the Spartans on Friday night.
