UNM Introduces the 2014-2015 Season Schedule

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Summer is here and so is the University of New Mexico Swimming and Diving team’s 2014-2015 schedule.

Head coach Kunio Kono released the upcoming schedule, and it will begin Saturday, Sept. 13 with an intrasquad meet held in the Seidler Natatorium with cherry versus silver.

Three away meets follow as UNM travels first to Wyoming on Thursday, Oct. 9. The Cowgirls placed just above the Lobos in the 2014 Mountain West Swimming and Diving Championships with a total of 455 points. Northern Colorado is scheduled on Friday, Oct. 10 and the Denver Relay on Saturday, Oct. 11.

The Lobos are back for three home meets as they finish off the month of October with competition against Air Force on Saturday, Oct. 18 and Northern Arizona on Saturday, Oct. 25. They will take on Denver next on Saturday, Nov. 1.

The team will spend the coming nearly three weeks of training and jump back into the water on Thursday, Nov. 20 as the swimmers will participate in the Mizzou Invite in Monterey Park, Calif., and the divers will travel to Tucson, Ariz. for the Wildcat Invitational on Friday, Nov. 21. Competition will continue for the swimmers until Saturday, Nov. 21 and the divers until Sunday. Nov. 23.

UNM will resume again on Saturday, Dec. 13 as they take part in the UNLV Invitational. The Rebels are competition the Lobos haven’t seen since their 2012-2013 season when the Lobos defeated them for first-place in a dual meet. 

New Mexico is back home for their final meet and celebration of Senior Day as they host Colorado State in the Seidler Natatorium on Saturday, Jan. 17.

The divers then travel to Colorado Springs, Colo. for the two day Air Force Diving Invitational while the swimmers travel to Las Cruces, N.M. to face Rio Grande rival New Mexico State on Friday, Jan. 31.

The Aggie and Falcon meets will conclude regular season competition as the Lobos move on to the MW Championships beginning Wednesday, February 18 in San Antonio, Texas.

The season will come to a close as competition for the NCAA Diving Zone will start Thursday, Mar. 12 in Colorado Springs, Colo. and the NCAA Championships on Thursday, Mar. 19 in Greensboro, N.C.

New Mexico will start off the 2014-2015 season after a strong win by diver Megan Harper in the 3-meter springboard event and a fifth- place finish for the Lobos as a team in the 2014 MW Championships.
