ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — University of New Mexico track and field junior Charles Lewis has been named to the Men’s All-Dual Team by the Daily Relay in its recap of the year in dual meets.
The Daily Relay published its “College Track Recap: The Year in Dual Meets” Tuesday and included Lewis in its 32-athlete All-Dual Team, which highlights athletes that have competed in dual meets in 2014 and have versatility in multiple events.
Lewis, an Albuquerque native, was chosen in the 400-meter hurdles and as an alternate in the 4x400 meter relay.
Lewis is fifth in New Mexico history in the 400 hurdles with a personal-record time of 50.89. He has scored at both Mountain West Outdoor Championships at which he has competed. He is currently third in the conference in the event and is 15th in the NCAA.
He has also experienced considerable success with the Lobos in their 4x400 relay, helping the squad to back-to-back All-MW honors indoors in 2013 and 2014.
The New Mexico 4x400 team, with Lewis in the third leg, is currently second in the conference with a time of 3:11.92 that is 10th all-time at UNM.
Lewis will compete again next week at the MW Outdoor Championships May 14-17 in Laramie, Wyo.
