ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Pole vaulter Toby Stevenson, the 2004 Olympic silver medalist and runner-up at the 2006 USA Outdoor Championships, tied the Albuquerque Convention Center record with a clearance of 18' 4 1/2" to lead the action today at the Mark Shumate All-Comer meet. Former Lobo standout and current UNM volunteer coach Derek Mackel cleared an indoor best 18' 1/2" to finish second in the marquee event of the day.

The first collegiate invitational of the season, the Modrall Sperling Lobo Invitational, will be held at the Convention Center next weekend, Jan. 19-20. New Mexico will host eight teams: Baylor, BYU, Oklahoma, LSU, Texas A&M, UCLA, UTEP and Portland State.

Tickets will be available at the door: $3 for adults, $2 for students and free for ages 5 and under.
