Austin, Texas- Indoor All-American Sandy Fortner has done it again. The University of New Mexico senior broke her own school record in the heptathlon today at the 83rd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. Fortner put up 5,657 points in the event, beating her previous record of 5,641.

"It feels great especially breaking my own PR twice for the school record," Fortner said. "High jump was a challenging event, I didn't do what I needed to do. It was a fight back after that and the 800, that one is always a challenge. For the rest of the season I want to work on some more individual events and get in shape for the heptathlon again."

The Fort Sumner, N.M. product finished third in the event behind Brianne Theisen from Oregon and Aisha Adams from Angelo State. Fortner's score still keeps her in second place in the MWC behind Aja Frary from SDSU.
