University of New Mexico Lee Emanuel recorded at national leading time of 3:40.77 in the invitational 1,500 meter run at Arizona State's Sun Angel Track Classic on April 12. The product of Hastings, England trailed only world-class runners, all of who were competing for Nike. Emanuel missed the University of New Mexico's 29-year-old school record by 2.17 in his first collegiate 1,500 race. His performance at the Sun Angel Track Classic earned Emanuel the Mountain West Conference Men's Outdoor Track and Field Co-Athlete of the week sharing the honor with BYU's Leif Arrhenius. UNM media relations student assistant Christa Martinez sat down with Emanuel to talk about his experience in New Mexico thus far and his accomplishments.
