ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – After hitting .857 last weekend in the three-game series with Detroit, Jasmine Casados has earned Mountain West Player of the Week honors for the second week in a row.
The freshman led the Lobos for the second weekend in a row, going 6-for-7 at the plate with only striking out. She owned a 1.875 slugging percentage and a .900 on-base percentage. She tallied two doubles, a triple, a home run, seven RBIs, three runs scored and was walked three times.
“Jasmine is doing really well for us,” said Beach. “We always knew she was a great hitter and we knew she was going to be a dangerous in the box. She is being patient and seeing the right pitches to hit.”
Casados went 2-for-2 and scored the winning run in the 6-5 decision on Friday against Detroit and was a home run shy of hitting for the cycle. She tied the game at 5-5 with a two RBI triple in the bottom of the seventh inning. In the second game on Saturday, Casados went 3-for-3 with a two-run bomb, her third on the season, in the third inning to put the Lobos up 6-3 against Detroit.
In the games against UTEP today, Casados hit 1-for-3in the first game and scored two runs. Casados is hitting .305 on the season with a .576 slugging percentage and a .414 on-base percentage.
