ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- The University of New Mexico softball team takes a break from Mountain West play this week and hosts non-conference opponent, UTEP for a doubleheader on Wednesday, April 24 at Lobo Field. The first contest begins at 12:00 p.m. MT.

The Lobos are 19-29 overall and 3-9 in MW play while the Miners carry a 12-28 mark and are 1-16 in Conference USA contests.

Following the doubleheader with UTEP, the Lobos have their first competition-free weekend since March 15-17 and just their second since the start of the season on Feb. 7-10. The Lobos resume Mountain West play May 3-5 at Fresno State.

UNM is coming off a tough weekend series at home against Nevada. The Lobos were swept by the offensive-dominant Wolf Pack last weekend, dropping game 9-6, 6-4 and 10-1 (6 inn.). Senior Kaity Ingram led the Lobos at the plate as she recorded at least one hit in each game and went 7-for-11 (.636 average), including going 4-for-4 on April 20. She also had two doubles and recorded an on-base percentage of .636 and slugging percentage of .818.

Freshman Naomi Tellez led the Lobos with runs-batted-in in the Nevada series, recording three. The freshman catcher went 3-for-8 at the plate, scored one run and stole one base on one attempt. Tellez and senior Cassandra Kalapsa lead the Lobos with 18 RBIs apiece on the season. Kalapsa is the team leader for home runs with six on the year.

Like the Lobos, the Miners are coming off a tough weekend in which they were swept by conference opponent UAB. UTEP is in its longest slump of the season having lost 13 games in a row -- the last victory for the Miners was an 11-1 (5 inn.) win over Siena on March 27.

Overall, freshman Mariah Rimmer leads New Mexico at the plate with a .314 average. She has started every game this season and has recorded a team high 49 hits and 60 total bases. She's also the Lobos' and the Mountain West leader in stolen bases with 24 successful steals in 31 attempts.

Ingram is the only other Lobo who has started every game. The senior has a .286 average and is really filling in as needed for the Lobos. Ingram has started 36 games at third base, five at shortstop, three at second base, two in left field and two in center field.

Freshman hurler Lauren Soles has logged a team-high 116 2/3 innings over 24 appearances and a team-high 20 starts. The lefty has an 8-12 record and a Lobo-best 97 strikeouts and ERA of 3.36.

DeBroeck has made a team-high five starts in the month of April and also leads the pitching staff in appearances this month with six. Her record for April is 2-3. Overall, DeBroeck has thrown 94.1 innings over 24 appearances and 14 starts. She is 6-9 with a 3.49 ERA and 52 strikeouts recorded.

Senior Kari Gutierrez has a team-best 3.82 ERA for the month of April in 3 2/3 innings tossed over two appearances.

Erika Arcuri leads UTEP on offense. She's started 37 games and has 41 hits in 120 at-bats (.342 average). Alanna Leasau has a team-high 35 RBIs and leads UTEP with seven homers. Her average is .265.

Danielle Pearson has appeared in circle in 29 contests and has made 12 starts. Pearson owns a 6-11 record and a 3.97 ERA. Colleen Hohman has tossed 65 1/3 innings and is 4-9 with a 5.68 ERA.
