SEATTLE - A walk-off home run by Yale's Lauren Degadillo gave the Bulldogs their second win of the season (2-4 overall) and dropped the University of New Mexico Lobos to 13-14 overall in the final day of the Husky Classic hosted by No. 19/16 Washington.

Yale took a 5-0 lead in the first inning and while New Mexico eventually tied the Bulldogs in the sixth inning, the Lobos never fully recovered and Degadillo's long ball ended the contest, 6-5.

New Mexico outhit Yale, 16-10, but was reluctant to bring runs around and left 11 on base.

The Lobos leave the Husky Classic with a 2-2 mark as they topped Bradley and Seattle on Friday night, lost a 12-0 contest to host Washington on Saturday night and closed the tourney with the loss to Yale.

UNM will stay on the road this week, making stops for doubleheaders at No. 9/8 Oregon and No. 23/RV Oregon State on March 13 and 14, respectively.

Junior Chelsea Anaya led UNM at the plate going 3-for-3. Freshman Mariah Rimmer also had three hits in five at-bats. She also scored and drove in one run.

Senior Kaity Ingram was 2-for-3 and also scored and drove in one run.

Senior pitcher Kari Gutierrez got the start and allowed four hits and five earned runs in 1/3 of an inning.

Kaela DeBroeck, also a senior, came in in relief and pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing six hits and one earned run while walking two and striking out three. Because DeBroeck gave up the winning run, she takes the loss and her record drops to 2-3.

The Lobos' doubleheader at Oregon begins at 3 p.m. MT on Wednesday.

Yale 6, Lobos 5

The Bulldogs took a quick lead in the bottom of the first inning as they put up five runs on six hits.

The Lobos tried to answer in the top of the second, as they scored four runs on six hits. Karissa Haleman got things started in the inning as she led with a single to left field. Sheryl Guillermo followed with a single to the pitcher. The next two batters, Mia Hignojos and Jordan Sjostrand, popped out and grounded out, but Haleman moved to third and Guillermo advanced to second on the plays.

A single to the short stop by Mariah Rimmer brought in Haleman and bumped Guillermo to third, and then Rimmer stole second base. Both runners scored as Kaity Ingram knocked a single to right field and the fielder bobbled it, making Guillermo an earned run and Rimmer an unearned run while Ingram made it to third.

A single by Anaya followed and Ingram scored the final run of the inning for New Mexico to make the score 5-4 after two frames.

The Lobos held off any more runs by Yale in the middle innings, and in the top of the sixth, scored a run thanks to a single to right field by Jordyn Bledsoe. Rimmer was the runner to score as she had reached on a single and advanced to second on the throw. A sacrifice fly to right field by Ingram allowed Rimmer to move to third and then Bledsoe's single drove her in and UNM tied the contest, 5-5, after the sixth.

The Bulldogs went down in order in the bottom of the sixth and in the top of the seventh, the Lobos were able to get pinch runner Amber Tracy to second base. But Tracy tried to score off a single to center by Rimmer and she was thrown out at home by the Bulldogs' center fielder and the game stayed tied at 5 apiece heading into the bottom of the seventh.

Yale's Lauren Delgadillo led off with a home run to left center and the Bulldogs took the game, 6-5.
