EUGENE, Ore. -- The University of New Mexico softball team was shut out twice at No. 10/9 Oregon on Wednesday, 10-0 and 4-0.

New Mexico drops to 13-16 overall while the Ducks improve to 23-4.

The Lobos recorded just two hits in the doubleheader -- one from freshman Mariah Rimmer in the first inning of game one, and the other from senior Cassandra Kalapsa in the third inning of game two.

Meanwhile the Ducks had 10 hits in game one and eight in the second game.

In game one, Oregon put up four runs in the first inning -- all of which were unearned due to two costly errors . The Ducks added three runs in the fifth and three in the sixth to cut the game short. The Lobos had three errors in the contest.

The second game stayed locked at 0-0 through 3 1/2 innings until the Ducks used six hits to put up four runs in the bottom of the fourth. UNM couldn't get any runs around and the final was 4-0 in favor of the home team.

Senior Kaela DeBroeck pitched the entire first game, allowing five earned runs while walking three and striking out none. Her record drops to 2-4.

Freshman Lauren Soles threw the second outing of the day, and in 26 batters faced, allowed eight hits and four earned runs while striking out four and walking none.

The Lobos play the final two games of their eight-game road stand at No. 23/RV Oregon State on Thursday. The doubleheader begins at 1 p.m. MT.
