MALAYSIAN OPEN LEADERBOARD
In Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, one hole kept University of New Mexico junior golfer Gavin Green from hanging around the top 40 in the third round of the Maybank Malaysian Open.
The par-4 16th cost Green a chance to enter the final round under par; his quadruple-bogey 8 pushed his round to a 3-over 75 Saturday, and he is tied for 60th with a 3-over 219 at the European Tour event.
Englishman Lee Westwood continues to lead the event at 14 under par after shooting a 1-under 71 in the third round. He leads countryman Andy Sullivan by a stroke. Sullivan pulled into contention after shooting a 6-under 66.
Green again had his moments at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club on Saturday. He had four birdies and an eagle at the par-4 14th – his second eagle of the tournament. But Green also had five bogeys in addition to his score on the 16th.
The Lobo who hails from Kuala Lumpur will look to close with a little more consistency on Sunday after making par on just 22 of his first 54 holes of the national tournament.
He will tee off at 9:15 a.m. local time with Chiragh Kumar and Marc Warren.
