ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of New Mexico’s men’s tennis team is heading home from the 2013 Aggie Invitational with a record to be proud of.
The Lobos wrapped up their third day of the tournament with a 12-4 overall record in singles play and a 4-4 record in doubles.
UNM didn’t take home any championship titles this time around. Rodolfo Jauregui was the only Lobo competitor to make it to the finals, but he came up short on Sunday morning. Jauregui was defeated by New Mexico State’s Liam Goldberg, 6-0, 6-4.
“Rodolfo had a slow start to his match,” associate head coach Bart Scott said. “He let the moment get to him and was a little bit nervous, but we have to give credit to his opponent. He played a great match and deserved to win today.”
Tanner Berkabile and Bryan Cunningham finished in third place at the Aggie Invite and teammate Andy Van Der Vyver finished in fifth.
“We represented Albuquerque very well down here in the south. We played with a lot of heart and energy,” Scott said. “Overall, it was a great weekend.”
