ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- The 68th-ranked University of New Mexico men's tennis team will wrap up the 2014 regular season this weekend with two conference matches against Utah State and Nevada at the Linda Estes Tennis Complex.

The 16-7, 2-2 Lobos are looking to pick up two more Mountain West victories before heading to the conference championship in two weeks.

UNM will kick off the weekend with a match against the USU Aggies on Friday at 1 p.m. MT. This will be the first ever match up between the Lobos and the newest member of the MW.

Head Coach Clancy Shields is bringing an eleven-man lineup that includes seven upperclassmen and four freshmen. The 9-10, 0-2 Aggies are currently sitting in 7th place in the MW standings.

It will be a tough MW battle as UNM attempts to hand USU its third conference loss and sixth road loss of the season.

“These two matches are very important and will be tough,” head coach Alan Dils said. “They are conference matches as well as our last regular season matches. Sunday’s match against Nevada will also have a benefit BBQ for Loren Dils and we should get a great crowd.”

The uphill battle continues for the Lobos on Sunday when they take on the Nevada Wolf Pack at 11 a.m. MT in a Senior Day match up. Mads Hegelund is the only senior on the UNM roster. He will be honored for his four years as a Lobo athlete after the match.

The Wolf Pack currently hold an impressive record of 13 wins and just three losses. The Lobos will have to play hard from start to finish if they want to sneak past the 6th MW ranked Wolf Pack.

The Loren Dils Benefit BBQ will also be held during Sunday’s match. Come out and cheer on the Lobos in their final home matches while supporting a great cause and enjoying some delicious food!

Full results will be posted on golobos.com at the end of the matches.
