Three University of New Mexico student-athletes earned Capital One Academic All-District First Team honors for College Sports Information Directors of America 's (CoSIDA) District VII as announced by the organization on Friday: Michaela Bezdickova of women's tennis, Mary Rachel Hostetter of women's skiing and Christian Otto of men's skiing. All three are now eligible for Academic All-America, which will be voted on and announced later this month.

It's the second All-District honor for Bezdickova and the first for Hostetter and Otto.

Bezdickova, a junior and native of Olomouc, Czech Republic, is majoring in finance and carries a 3.99 GPA. She played in the No. 1 singles flight for the Lobo women's tennis team for the third-consecutive season, finishing this season with an individual record of 22-12 and picking up her third Mountain West Tennis All-Conference honor. She is also a two-time recipient of both the Academic All-MW and MW Scholar-Athlete awards.

Bezdickova and Wyoming's Vernoica Popovici were the only two women's tennis student-athletes to represent the MW on the list.

Hostetter, a native of Steamboat Springs, Colo., just completed her senior season as a member of the Lobo women's Alpine ski team. She has received a number of other academic honors, including being named to the United States Collegiate Ski Coaches Association All-Academic Ski Team and earning Lobo Scholar-Athlete distinction.

A two-time letterwinner at UNM (transfer from the University of Denver) and a four-time NCAA participant, Hostetter recently graduated with a degree in Psychology with a 4.06 GPA. In her final season of competition, she recorded four top-10 finishes in the slalom, including a career-best third place at the University of Colorado/Spencer Nelson Memorial Invitation in early January. In her fourth appearance at the NCAA Championships, Hostetter finished 20th in the slalom and 22nd in the giant slalom.

Otto just completed his junior season with the Lobo men's Nordic team. A native of Waltersdorf, Germany, his major is business administration and he carries a 3.93 GPA.

Otto has received a number of other academic accolades in his three years at UNM including All-Academic Ski Team honors from the United States Collegiate Ski Coaches Association and Lobo Scholar-Athlete honors.

A three-time letterwinner and three-time NCAA Championships participant, Otto recorded eight top-20 finishes, including a season-high 14th place in the freestyle at the Utah Invitational in February.

He had his best races of the year at nationals as he placed 19th in both the classic and freestyle races.

Hostetter and Otto helped the Lobos finish sixth overall at the Championships -- the squad's 30th straight season of placing in the top-10 at nationals.

The duo is among six total Division I skiers to earn All-District honors, including three who hail from Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association institutions -- Jeremy Elliot of Utah (mass communication, 3.78 GPA), Andreas Haug of Colorado (business finance, 3.98 GPA) and Tyler Reinking of Montana State (exercise science, 3.98 GPA).

The Capital One All-District VII At-Large team is made up of student-athletes from the sports of women's bowling, women's crew, men's and women's fencing, women's field hockey, men's and women's golf, men's and women's gymnastics, men's and women's ice hockey, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's rifle, men's and women's skiing, men's and women's swimming and diving, men's and women' s tennis, men's volleyball, men's and women's water polo and men's wrestling.
