ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- The University of New Mexico women’s tennis team will play its final match of the regular season on Saturday, April 19 when the Lobos host Air Force at the Linda Estes Tennis Complex at 11 a.m. MT.
“Air Force is always known for being a very competitive and tough team and we are excited for the challenge in our final home match of the season,” interim head coach Kelcy McKenna said.
While the Lobos may hold an impressive all-time record of 14-4 against the Falcons, those four losses have come in the last four seasons. The Lobos are certainly hungry for a USAFA win, as UNM has not defeated the Falcons since 2009.
UNM (14-7, 3-1) and USAFA (17-7, 2-2) are both coming off of three-match win streaks. It’ll be a tight match up as both teams attempt to claim one more conference win before heading to the MW Championships next week in Fresno, Calif.
The Lobos are currently in second place in the MW standings. The Falcons are in sixth place.
“Honoring senior captain Michaela Bezdickova and fellow senior Anna Kuuttila in our last regular season conference match will be bittersweet,” McKenna said. “As a program, we could not be more proud of how these two young ladies have represented University of New Mexico, both in the classroom and on the tennis court.”
Come out and support the Lobos on Saturday as the close out the regular season at home.
