ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Lobos completed day one of the 2013 Aggie Invitational despite early morning rain delays at the New Mexico State Tennis Center on Friday, Sept. 13.
The University of New Mexico’s women’s tennis program competed in seven different doubles matches after a long morning of rain interruption. UNM finished the day winning five of seven matches.
“It’s always tough to wait much of the day to play due to weather,” head coach Erica Jasper said, “so we were a little concerned on how we’d start energy-wise. But I was really happy with our energy and the way we competed tonight.”
Doubles matches will continue on Saturday morning. UNM duos Dulski/Hopson and Bhat/Porter will be competing in the semi-finals of the Laguna Doubles bracket. Baklini/Olivier will be competing in the semi-finals of the back draw of the Jemez Doubles bracket.
“We definitely have a lot of things to work on in doubles, however it was a great start and it was nice that everyone was able to pick up their first win in a Lobo uniform,” Jasper said.
Singles matches had to be postponed due to the weather. They will begin after the doubles matches on Saturday.
Tournament play will resume on Saturday Morning at 9:00 a.m. (MTN)
