COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- University of New Mexico's Chantale Riddle has been named Mountain West Volleyball Player of the Week for matches played from Oct. 21-27, as announced by the Conference office on Monday morning. It's the first weekly honor for Riddle this season and the second of her career.

The redshirt junior led the Lobos to a 2-0 record last week, first a sweep at Big 12 opponent TexasTech on Oct. 23 before returning to the Johnson Center and sweeping Nevada on Oct. 26.

"Chantale is very deserving of this honor," head coach Jeff Nelson said. "She had a complete week and played well in all facets of the game. Her blocking numbers were huge and she had a lot of kills and scored a lot of points. She also provided consistency for us and gave us kills at times when we needed them.

"We saw her take some better swings out of the back row this week, and really, play the big-time ball she's capable of playing."

In nine sets played, the right-side hitter recorded 25 kills, 17 digs and 10 blocks, and committed just two attack errors for a spectacular .397 hitting percentage.

Riddle led all players in kills and points in both of the Lobos' matches, recording 17 points and 14 kills at Texas Tech and 14 points and 11 kills against the Wolf Pack. She also tallied her fifth double-double of the season against the Red Raiders with 14 kills and 13 digs.

Her per-set averages last week were well above her season averages:
kills(4.17 last week/3.97 season avg.)
hitting percentage (.397/.242)
aces-per-set (0.17/0.14)
digs-per-set (2.83/2.13)
blocks-per-set (1.67/1.00)
and points-per-set (5.17/4.68)

Riddle continues to pace the Lobos and the Mountain West in kills-per-set and points-per-set in overall matches (3.97 and 4.68). In MW-only contests, she is second in kills-per-set (4.00) and is tied for the lead in points-per-set (4.59 with Fresno State's Korrin Wild).

This is the second Player of the Week honor for UNM as redshirt sophomore Hannah Johnson earned MW weekly honors on Oct. 7.

The Lobos are No. 2 in the Mountain West standings with a 17-4 overall and 7-3 MW record. UNM is one of four MW teams with a 7-3 record in league contests.

New Mexico is on the road for a pair of conference matches this week, stopping first at UNLV on Oct. 31 (8 p.m. MT/7 p.m. PT) before playing at San Diego State on Nov. 2 (1 p.m. MT/12 p.m. PT).
