Junior (2009): Drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the sixth round of the 2009 MLB Amateur Draft...led the team in relief appearances (27) and innings pitched out of the bullpen (38.2)...also ranked second in the Mountain West Conference in games in relief...fanned 45 with 28 walks...second on the team and tied for sixth in the MWC with four saves...posted a 3-2 record with a 2.33 ERA, also second best on the team...27 appearances ties two other Lobos for fourth in a season (David Waites in 1997 and Bill Irwin in 1971)...tied for fourth in the MWC in games finished with 14...opened the season with 19.2 innings without an earned run (and just one run) over 13 appearances racking up 28 strikeouts in that span while surrendering five hits...struck out a season-high five in 2.2 innings on March 1 against Northern Colorado...second on the team with four saves, picking up his first on March 26 against BYU...allowed just one hit over six appearances (6.2 innings) from April 9 through April 24...carried an ERA under 1.70 until May 3...notched a save in three straight outings (March 26, 28 and April 1).
