ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – It’s a busy summer of construction at many of the University of New Mexico athletic facilities. Visitors to Branch Field at University Stadium, The Pit or the Maloof Administration Building in recent days may have noticed a sizeable project occupying the south end of the Stadium West lot. The sizeable chunk of the parking lot is being repaved and has altered parking and navigation areas to the Maloof building.
While it is an inconvenience for those visiting, we want to make sure visitors are aware of it and know it’s for the greater good. The resurfacing of that portion of the lot will be complete before Lobo Football’s opener versus UTEP on August 30.
The work on the parking lot is just one of several facility projects this summer as mentioned in the GoLobos.com’s “Reconstruction of Lobo Football” piece last week. Other ongoing projects include:
- The renovation of the Lobo Football weight room
- The building of a new Olympic Sports Performance Center, located on what was formerly the Linda Estes Stadium Court
- The recently-opened The McKinnon Family Tennis Stadium
- The construction of restroom facilities at Lobo Baseball, Lobo Softball and the McKinnon Family Tennis Stadium
We want to thank all of our fans and visitors for their patience during this busy summer of construction at New Mexico Athletics. Please be aware of the changes in parking in this lot and the altered navigation path around it (along the west side of Branch Field) to the front door of the Maloof building.
