Lobo Trio Heads to NBA Draft Combine

CHICAGO, Ill. – The University of New Mexico men’s basketball program will be well represented at the 2014 NBA Draft Combine in Chicago. Seniors Cameron Bairstow and Kendall Williams will join junior Alex Kirk as participants in the premier pre-draft event. This year’s combine is held on Thursday, May 15 and Friday, May 16 ahead of the NBA Draft Lottery on May 20.

The combine fields a group of 60 draft prospects by invite only. New Mexico, along with UCLA and Syracuse, is one of only three programs in the nation to have three players participating in this year’s combine. The event will air on the ESPN family of networks on Thursday and Friday. Coverage will be on ESPNU from 8 a.m. - 11 a.m. MT and on ESPN2 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. MT on both days.

The 2014 NBA Draft will be held on Thursday, June 26 in New York City.

Led the Lobos with 168 assists and was one of 23 finalists for the Cousy Award for the second straight year • led the team with 63 three-pointers and became only the second player in school history with four consecutive 400-point seasons • finished his career with the most free throws made in school history, and he finished fifth in scoring at UNM • is the Mountain West all-time leader in assists for all games and for conference only games • is a three-time All-Mountain West pick and a three-time all-region pick. Turned in one of the greatest seasons in school history, starting all 34 games, averaging 20.4 points to lead the team, and grabbing .7.4 rebounds • led the Mountain West in scoring and shooting (.556) • second on the team with 51 blocks, and his 298 free throw attempts were three away from the school record • ended his career 20th in scoring at UNM and 10th in rebounding • was named Second Team All-America by Sports Illustrated, Third Team All-America by NBC Sports and CBS Sports and Honorable Mention All-America by the Associated Press. Played and started 32 games, and was third on the team in scoring at 13.3 points, and led the team with 8.7 rebounds per game • led the team with 85 blocked shots • missed two games with a lower leg injury, but still was one of three players with over 1,000 minutes played • shot .490 from the field for the year. Opened the season with a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds against Alabama A&M • Had a second straight double-double with 24 points and 13 rebounds, adding five blocks, against Charleston Southern
