ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Head coach Craig Neal and the University of New Mexico men’s basketball program have announced assistant coach Craig Snow is leaving the program to become the head men’s basketball coach at New Mexico Highlands University. Snow spent the last three seasons as a member of the Lobos’ staff.

“It’s bittersweet to lose Coach Snow because he’s been such a big part of our program,” said head coach Craig Neal. “However, this is a great opportunity for him to be a head coach of his own program, and I am very excited for him. He’s come through the ranks of our program, starting as a video coordinator, and been a part of our team’s success over the past three years. I would like to thank him for everything he’s done, and he will always be a part of the Lobo basketball family.”

During his three seasons with New Mexico, Snow was part of a program that won 84 games, three MW tournament championships and two MW regular season championships with a trio of NCAA Tournament appearances.

The Illinois native spent the 2013-14 season as an assistant coach after spending the previous season as the team’s director of operations. He joined the Lobos for the 2011-12 season as the video coordinator after a five-year stint as the head boys’ basketball coach and athletic director at the Bosque School in Albuquerque. His tenure with UNM also gave him a variety of responsibilities that included recruiting, scouting and skill development among others.

Snow played four years at Evansville University, scoring 1,530 points. A deadly shooter, he hit 39.2% of his three-pointers and was 76.4% from the line. For his career he averaged 12.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game while shooting .464 overall from the field. He finished his career ranked among the top-30 all-time in the Missouri Valley Conference in points, field goals, field goal attempts, and field goal percentage.
