ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – With just three months until the beginning of basketball season, head coach Craig Neal and the University of New Mexico men’s basketball program’s schedule for the 2014-15 season is set. The dozen non-conference match-ups have been added to the 18-game Mountain West schedule, which was released by the conference earlier this week.

“I am looking forward to our entire schedule,” said head coach Craig Neal. “The ESPN tournament in Puerto Rico has an outstanding field that includes UConn, Dayton, West Virginia, Texas A&M and many other good programs. It will help prepare us for our conference schedule, which will be challenging as always. Every game is tough in the Mountain West.”

New Mexico’s non-conference schedule includes the ESPN Puerto Rico Tip-Off and home games against Idaho State, Cal State Fullerton, USC, New Mexico State, UL Monroe and Central Arkansas. Opposite those games in The Pit are trips to Valparaiso, New Mexico State and Grand Canyon.

The Lobos open the season with a pair of exhibitions versus Western New Mexico and Adams State in The Pit on November 1 and November 7. UNM will open the regular season at home versus Idaho State on November 14.

Conference play starts on New Year’s Eve this season as New Mexico will host Fresno State in The Pit. It’s the first of the 18 MW games for UNM, which will play Nevada and San Jose State only once.

Five of the team’s eight games in February are on the road, but there are a pair of marquee home games just three days apart. The Lobos will host San Diego State on Wednesday, February 18 before welcoming UNLV to The Pit on Saturday, February 21.

The lone conference game in March will be Senior Day as the Wyoming Cowboys pay a visit to Bob King Court on Saturday, March 7.

In addition to the conference schedule, the Mountain West also released its television broadcast schedule as well. New Mexico had 14 of its 18 MW games picked up for national broadcast in the conference’s first package, which includes seven on the ESPN family of networks and seven on CBS Sports. CBS Sports, ROOT SPORTS and the Mountain West Network will announce additional broadcasts in the future.

Tip-off times and additional television broadcast information will also be announced later this summer.
