Albuquerque, NM --- Lobo fans have a chance to prove they are the best fans in Division I Basketball on a nation scale. The NCAA has launched the “6th Fan” contest where fans are asked to vote for their school in three ways. You can vote online at http://6thfan.ncaa.com/ and via Facebook or Twitter by posting a message using the hash tags #NMEX and #6thfan. Fans can vote once per method, per day.

As of today, The University of New Mexico sits at #93 out of 345 schools who were automatically entered. To make it out of the first round and into the Sweet Sixteen, New Mexico needs to jump 77 spots. If the Lobos are able to do so, they will get a donation of $10,000 to the general scholarship fund. After the Sweet Sixteen, the Lobos would face head-to-head competitions with other schools and go through another four rounds to make it to the championship. If the Lobos are voted the top 6th Fan school, The University of New Mexico would receive a $100,000 contribution to our general scholarship fund.

The contest also includes individuals prizes in which fans can win just for voting. Fans have a chance to win an iPad Air in every round and also have a chance to win the grand prize, an all-expense paid trip to the 2015 Men’s Final Four.

The Senior Associate Athletic Director for Marketing, Brad Hutchins said “This is a great opportunity to raise additional scholarship fund dollars for our Lobo Club and 450 student athletes. We encourage all Lobo fans to vote each day."
