ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – University of New Mexico guard Hugh Greenwood was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches’ 2013-14 National Honors Court. The award recognizes those college basketball student-athletes who excelled academically.

“The NABC Honors Court recognizes the talents and gifts that these men possess off the court and the hard work they exhibit in the classroom,” said the NABC in a press releases.

Greenwood wrapped up his 2013-14 season as a key cog in the Lobos’ 27-win season that saw New Mexico become the first program in Mountain West history to win three consecutive conference tournaments. The Australian averaged 6.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game in his third season as a Lobo.

The academic award is just the latest for Greenwood who was also named to the MW Academic All-Conference team last month for a third time.

The NABC honor for Greenwood is the latest in a slew of academic awards earned by New Mexico this past season. Six Lobos earned a spot on the Academic All-MW team, which led the conference. Cullen Neal became the second Lobo in five years to be named MW Scholar Athlete as the program posted its highest team grade point average in eight years in the spring.
