ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Former New Mexico Lobo forward Cameron Bairstow has signed a contract with the Chicago Bulls. Bairstow was selected by Chicago with the 49th pick of the 2014 NBA Draft. The terms of the contract were not released per team policy.

“We like Cameron’s combination as a player with his size, energy and physicality,” said Chicago Bulls General Manager Gar Forman in a press release.  “He is a hard worker who will only get better with time.”

Bairstow finished the 2013-14 season with the Lobos by earning All-American accolades from various national media outlets. The power forward’s senior season saw him average 20.3 points and 7.4 rebounds while shooting a conference-best 55.6% from the field. He helped propel the Lobos to 27 wins last season, and New Mexico won 106 games during Bairstow’s career as a Lobo.

The Australian will join a former Lobo teammate in Chicago in Tony Snell. Snell was the Bulls’ first round draft pick in 2013. With Bairstow and Snell, New Mexico had a player selected in back-to-back NBA Drafts for the first time since the mid 1980’s.

Bairstow played in the NBA Summer League this month for the Chicago Bulls. He was also part of the 17-man roster invited to training camp for the Australian National Team to participate in the 2014 FIBA World Championships in Spain.
