New Mexico head coach Steve Alford

On Air Force Aggressive Play
"Well I know Jeff (Reynolds) probably doesn't want to hear it because I know how tough it is to lose, but I thought he did a tremendous job setting his team up. They had a week to get ready for us and I just thought he did a heck of a job coaching his team. They were very well prepared; they attacked our defense much more aggressively than in game one and they guarded us better. Sometimes you have to take your hat off to the team you're playing."

On games late in the season
"We have a lot going on. This program has had a lot thrown at them and I told the team you have special years that you have to win games like this. Last year we were at Colorado State and we were down five points with 13 seconds to go and found a way to win.

"Today we weren't at our best but we found a way to win and I want our team to know how proud I am of them because we could have easily lost this game in the last three minutes and they didn't. They got the stop they needed in the last minute and they got the score they needed in the last minute. Sometimes during a long season they're not going to all go as scripted and you have to find ways to win and our guys did that."

Air Force head coach Jeff Reynolds

"I thought we competed very well. I thought we controlled the game. It was very physical the last six minutes of the game. They had two team fouls in the whole second half. That is beyond me. I thought our kids hung in there, didn't turn the ball over in the second half and they really believed they could win. It's unfortunate but New Mexico is an awfully good team and down the stretch they executed better than we did.

There's a lot of people out there that have written our kids off. I think they got tired of hearing it. I think you just have to take your hat off to the kids tonight; they executed the game plan and just came up a little short. It's a great environment. I don't know if there is a better venue in college basketball. I think our kids embraced it and handled it very well. I felt like we were able to make some shots tonight that we haven't made in earlier games."
