New Mexico Head Coach Steve Alford
"Obviously a really big win for our program to beat three ranked teams in the non-league with this basketball team, I couldn't be more proud or more pleased."
"It's funny. With a young team, I really don't understand the things that they're doing because they've never done them before. They never lost a game until Oral Roberts and now they come back and do the things they did after a loss and against a really good team."
"This was our best defensive effort in a really long time and that's encouraging because we've spent a lot of time at it in the last three days, and I thought our defense tonight was really good. We know we have a battle coming in on Friday (vs. Dayton). They've won eight in a row."
Texas Tech head coach Pat Knight
Comments on offense
"Our offense is fine. Don't ask about offense anymore. You score 70-some points. That is enough to win. When your team gets beat, you got to look at the defense. You can't give up 90 points and expect to win. You have got to guard. You have got to defend. When you are giving up 90 points, any one is going to beat you."
"We just aren't guarding the ball well right now. They are beating us on the drive. We are not moving our feet. We are fouling a lot. We screwed up a lot of switches, not talking. Our communication was just really bad. What it is is that you have a hungry team here in New Mexico, and I have a satisfied team in Texas Tech right now. We got to get back to being hungry. If (Lobo head coach) Steve (Alford) keeps his team hungry, and doesn't let them get satisfied, they are going to have a hell of a year. I really like that team."
On the Lobos
"They are good. Steve has done a great job mixing up the defenses. That is a very good basketball team. They deserve their ranking, plus you add this atmosphere here at home. They are going to be so tough to beat at home. The whole thing that sums it up, (Roman) Martinez had two great plays. I told my team on the bench, `That is how you guys got to play.' I think the fans here need to enjoy this team this year."
