*Craig Neal dropped to 3-1 as head coach after an 81-65 loss to UMass, which is receiving votes in both national polls. UNM will play the loser of the Clemson/Davidson game for third place at noon Eastern, 10 a.m. Mountain Time on ESPNU.
*The Lobos trailed at the half for the first time this season. UNM trailed the entire second half until tying the game at 61-all with 7:56 remaining, but UMass would go on a 14-0 run to salt the game away.
*UNM suffered a season-high 18 turnovers and a season-low 13 assists.
*The Lobos tied a school record with 12 blocked shots, including 10 in the first half. The last time UNM blocked 12 shots was against UNLV on January 17, 2000. It was the fifth time the Lobos have blocked 12 in a game, and the first time ever blocking more than 10 in a neutral site game.
*Alex Kirk set new career-highs with 32 points, 11 field goals, 25 attempts, four three-pointers, and seven three-point attempts. He previous high of 31 points came in his freshman year against Cal State Bakersfield, and is the UNM freshman single-game record.
*Kendall Williams dished out at least five assists for the fourth straight game (he had 7, 10, and 10 in the first three games).
*UNM was outrebounded for the second straight game 42-40, and they were outscored in the second half for a second straight game.
*UNM shot a season-low 14 free throws, eight by Alex Kirk. Their previously low in a game this season was 38.
*UNM is 13-for-56 from three-point range (23.2%) in the Charleston Classic.
*Deshawn Delaney’s six points were a career-high, as were his two steals.
*Alex Kirk blocked five shots for the third straight game and has 17 on the season…he had 20 his entire freshman season.
