ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – University of New Mexico junior guard Antiesha Brown has earned All-Mountain West Honorable Mention honors for the 2013-14 season as announced by the conference this afternoon. Brown is New Mexico’s leading scorer at 14.3 points per game and ranks in the top ten in the MW in scoring. The award marks the second-straight season the guard has earned postseason all-conference honors after being the MW Sixth Player of the Year last season.
The Clovis, N.M. native started all 29 regular season games for the Lobos and scored ten or more points in 24 of them. The redshirt junior has scored in double figures in her last twelve consecutive games, which is the longest streak of her career.
Brown was the MW Player of the Week in the first week of the season after her career-best performance of 28 points and eleven rebounds in UNM’s season-opening win over Loyola Marymount. It was the first weekly honor of her career.
Her junior season has seen an increase in scoring, field goal percentage, rebounds, steals and assists from her sophomore season. Brown’s scoring average has increased 6.6 points per game this season.
Brown and the rest of the Lobos will face the Utah State Aggies in the first round of the 2014 MW Tournament at 3 p.m. (MST) on Monday, March 10.
