ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Just days after an exciting exhibition win over Grand Canyon in front of a spirited crowd of 1,620 at the UNM Soccer Complex, the eleventh-ranked University of New Mexico Men's Soccer program will complete their exhibition schedule this week. The Lobos will face a pair of former Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Rivals in Air Force and Denver. Coach Fishbein and the Cherry & Silver will play the Falcons on Thursday, August 22nd in Colorado Springs before traveling north to Denver to face the Pioneers at 7 p.m. on August 24th.

Saturday night's exhibition gave the Lobo faithful their first chance to catch a glimpse of the 2013 edition of Lobo Soccer that will open the season ranked eleventh nationally. All-American Kyle Venter headed home a Michael Calderon free kick for the match's first goal just twelve minutes in. The play was eerily similar to the team's first goal versus Virginia in the 2012 NCAA Tournament at the UNM Soccer Complex that featured the same two-man scoring combination.

UNM's other two goals came off the feet of freshman. Niko Hansen and James Wypych both found the back of the net in their first minutes in a New Mexico uniform. The trio of Lobo goals brought a crowd of 1,620 into a frenzy that featured drums and cowbells.

That actual attendance for the exhibition was higher than the 2012 season average of 190 different schools, which is more than 93% of the NCAA.

Exhibition road trips are a crucial part of a team coming together and building their camaraderie and chemistry. Coach Fishbein and the Lobos took an exhibition road trip to California last year that was a big hit as you can see.
