DALLAS, Texas – Conference USA announced weekly award winners for their men’s soccer members, and New Mexico goalkeeper Michael Lisch has been named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week. The senior keeper recorded a pair of wins for the Lobos who seized first place in the C-USA standings.
Lisch began his week with a shutout against Tulsa in the NSCAA’s “National Game of the Week”. He recorded a pair of saves in his conference-leading fifth shutout of the season. During the 1-0 win at nationally-ranked Tulsa, Lisch pushed his scoreless streak to 306 consecutive minutes without conceding a goal.
He and the Lobos would post another conference win with a 2-1 decision over Florida International in overtime. While he did concede a goal, FIU’s lone score is the only goal given up by Lisch in his last 404 minutes between the pipes.
Coach Fishbein and the Lobos will return to action for one match this week. New Mexico will host Florida Atlantic at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 19 at the UNM Soccer Complex.
