IRVING, Texas – Conference USA released its yearly Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll, and the University of New Mexico men’s soccer program had 23 student-athletes receive the award. New Mexico is one of only two C-USA men’s soccer programs to have more than 20 student-athletes recognized.

The most recent round of awards adds to the Lobos’ academic honors from the 2013 season. Defenders Kyle Venter and Nick Miele were named to the Academic All-Conference USA team after Venter and James Rogers were named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team in November. Miele and Rogers went on to earn NSCAA Scholar All-Region honors as Venter took home a NSCAA Scholar Athlete award at season’s end.

The academic success was not limited to individual honors. The program earned the NSCAA’s Team Academic Award for a tenth time in eleven seasons after posting a team-record 3.43 team grade point average in the Fall semester of the 2012-13 academic year.

Head Coach Jeremy Fishbein and the Lobos won the regular season conference title in their first season in Conference USA en route to an appearance in the 2013 NCAA College Cup in Philadelphia.

UNM is currently two matches into their spring exhibition schedule in preparation for the 2014 season.
