ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- Redshirt sophomore Kyle Venter has been included on College Soccer News' list of "Team Linchpins - Indispensable Players." The list is comprised of seven players who have proven themselves essential to a team's makeup, and make everyone around them better.
Venter redshirted his freshman season but has since started every game of his career as the Lobo centerback. He scored his first career goal against Cal State Northridge in the Lobos' 2011 TLC Invitational. It worked to tie the game 1-1 in the 84th minute of play and kick-start New Mexico's rally to a 3-1 win.
His second career goal came against the defending national champions, the Akron Zips, in their 2011 UA Tournament. It was again the tying goal in the Lobos' 1-1 double overtime draw with the Zips.
New Mexico took first place in both the TLC Invitational and the UA Tournament, and Venter was named the Defensive MVP on both All-Tournament teams.

The Lobos will host Loyola Marymount on Friday at 7 p.m. in a "Stuff the Stadium" double header event with the women's soccer team.
