ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Lobo Club, the Gateway to Giving for University of New Mexico Athletics, is currently driving to 5,000 members for the first time in school history.  This “Drive to 5,000” came from the athletic department’s strategic plan and was launched in April of 2013 with the goal of obtaining 5,000 members by December 31, 2014. Today, the Lobo Club is announcing the extension of this drive to align with their fiscal year, which runs from July 1 to June 30.  With the extension, the new date for the conclusion of this campaign is June 30, 2015.

“We have already made great progress in expanding the membership of the Lobo Club during our Drive to 5,000 members,” said Executive Director of the Lobo Club Lee De Leon. “In our final year of this campaign, we do not want to exclude anyone that joins the Lobo Club after December 31 but is still a member for the 2014-15 season.”

The Lobo Club recently hit an all-time high in membership with 4,490 members during the 2013-2014 fiscal year, but there is still room for growth. “This is an obtainable and very important goal for the entire athletic department,” Vice President for Athletics Paul Krebs said. “When we hit 5,000 members, we will accomplish something that we have been striving to do for years, and we will have the largest donor base in the Mountain West Conference.”

The Lobo Club raises funds for student-athlete scholarships, facility improvements, and other areas that support UNM Athletics.  To join the Lobo Club and impact the lives of over 450 student-athletes, go to UNMLoboClub.com or call 505-925-CLUB (2582). If you are already a member, don’t forget to renew your membership for the 2014-15 fiscal year at Driveto5000.com.
