Albuquerque, N.M. --- Chelsea Einerwold has been promoted from graduate assistant to assistant communications director. In addition, Matt Ensor, formerly of Georgia Southwestern, has been also named assistant director of communications. The announcements were made by assistant A.D. for communications Frank Mercogliano.
Einerwold replaces Andrew Woerpel, who left for a position with UC-Colorado Springs outside of communications, and Ensor replaces Kate Nicewicz, who left for a position with Tennessee Tech football.
Einerwold has spent the previous two years as a graduate assistant handling publicity for the UNM softball team in 2011-2012 after serving as a staff writer in 2010-11. Chelsea also assisted in all facets for women's basketball as the secondary contact, and worked with CBS during the NCAA Tournament second and third rounds in Albuquerque, and she worked on the press operations staff at the NCAA Women's Final Four in Denver.
Ensor comes to UNM after spending the past year at Georgia Southwestern, where he served as the media contact for the Hurricanes for men's soccer, softball, and women's basketball, while also helping at all home events and working with GSW social media. He previously served as a graduate assistant with VCU, where he was the secondary men's basketball contact during the Rams' run to the Final Four.
At UNM, Einerwold will handle publicity for the UNM volleyball program and UNM's nationally acclaimed ski program as well as continuing with handling softball. Ensor will handle publicity for men's soccer and women's basketball.
"I'm extremely excited about the new additions to the Lobo communications staff," said Mercogliano. "Chelsea has been with our office for two years and is a graduate of UNM. She already has established contacts with the Albuquerque media, and she has a great knowledge of the sports of volleyball and softball."
"Matt had a great experience as a high level with VCU's Final Four run, and then he comes to us from perhaps the best Division II Conference in the nation," said Mercogliano. "What impresses me about Matt, and about Chelsea, is they have great writing backgrounds."
Einerwold, who received her master's degree from UNM in May, earned her bachelor's from Wisconsin-Superior. Ensor earned his master's degree from VCU, and an undergraduate degree in journalism from Oregon.
