Lettered for four years in basketball at La Cueva in Albuquerque • helped his team to a 17-10 record as a senior, leading the Bears to the second round of the New Mexico state playoffs • was named All-District, and he was also named to several All-Tournament teams during the season • averaged 15 points and 3.4 assists per game as a senior • as a junior and a sophomore he helped La Cueva to back-to-back New Mexico state championships, winning both titles on The Pit floor • was the starting two-guard for the 2009 state championship La Cueva squad
