University of New Mexico
Game Notes Vs. New Mexico State
Oct. 5, 2013

Team

The Lobos scored first for the second straight game and the fourth time in five games this season on Kasey Carrier’s 1-yard run in the first quarter.

The Lobos rushed for 541 yards, the fourth highest total in school history. They surpassed the 300-yard mark for the third time in five games this season and for the 13th time in Davie’s 18-game tenure at UNM.

New Mexico also had 608 yards of total offense, the 15th best day in its history. The yardage was the most since UNM had 633 yards at Utah in 2003 and the most at home since a 620-yard output vs. Air Force in 2001.

New Mexico’s 66 points against New Mexico State were the most in the rivalry since it scored 66 in 1982 (a 66-14 UNM win over NMSU). The 66 points also tied the most in the Bob Davie era (66 in the season opener last year vs. Southern).

UNM’s 42 first-half points were a season high and seven points short of the school record (49 vs. San Diego State in 2008).

Davie is the first Lobo coach to win his first two games against New Mexico State since Joe Lee Dunn (1983-84).

Five different UNM players rushed for touchdowns.
