The University of New Mexico Cheer and Dance Teams won a national championship in the 2007 Universal Cheerleaders Association and Universal Dance Association Nationals this weekend in Orlando, Fla. Shoni Spinelli (5th year/Clayton, N.M.), Julianne Vallejos (4th year/Los Lunas, N.M.), Jennifer Sanborn (3rd year/Alamogordo, N.M.), and Amanda Wiley (2nd year/Alamogordo, N.M.) teamed up to win the 4-girl partner stunt team title, the first of any kind in Lobo Spirit Group history.

Competing at the Walt Disney World Resort, the Lobos beat out approximately 200 teams for first place honors in the event. The Chaparral Dance Team placed 14th in the Division IA Hip Hop, while the Coed Cheer team placed 15th in Division IA. The All-Girl Cheer team also placed 9th in the Nation.
