The combined grade point average of the Lobos' 21 athletics programs for the 2008 fall semester was a school-record 3.14 according to the UNM registrar's office. UNM's previous high was 3.11 in the spring of 2008. The Lobos have now reached a G.P.A. of 3.00 or better for 12 of the last 13 semesters. UNM began tracking grades in the fall of 1988.

"The academic achievement by our student-athletes continues to be extremely impressive," said UNM Vice President for Athletics Paul Krebs. "The student-athletes, coaches, academic advisement staff and mentors are to be congratulated for an outstanding fall semester in the classroom."

• Women's soccer has been above above a 3.25 for seven consecutive semesters

• Women's swimming has had a 3.45 or better for five straight terms

• Women's track had its best G.P.A. since a 3.61 in the spring of 2005

• Volleyball extends its streak of 3.0 or better to 13 consecutive semesters
