UNM Kicks Off 2009 Lobo Country Tour Powered By New Mexico Sports Authority
May 13, 2009 ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- The University of New Mexico Athletics Department is going on tour! The 2009 Lobo Country Tour Powered by the New Mexico Sports Authority begins in Gallup, N.M. on Wednesday, May 20 and will continue during the summer with stops throughout the state of New Mexico. Each tour stop will feature head coaches from the Lobo Athletics teams conducting sports clinics and hanging out with Lobo fans at a community event. Several stops will include a clinic with Lobo partner Special Olympics, New Mexico. "This tour represents another way the Lobos are reaching out into our community," said UNM Vice President for Athletics Paul Krebs. "We are excited to be working with the New Mexico Sports Authority to visit fans all over Lobo Country." The first stop of the tour is set for Gallup on Wednesday, May 20. UNM coaches and staff will begin with Special Olympics track and field practice at 3 p.m., followed by a reception at 5:30 p.m. "The New Mexico Sports Authority is excited about partnering with the University of New Mexico in an effort to bring awareness about UNM athletics to various communities around our state," said Brian O'Neill, Executive Director of the New Mexico Sports Authority.
