
Chris Deal is in his fifth year with the University of New Mexico Athletics Communications office. He was named Associate Director of Athletics Communications in January of 2011, after spending the previous four years as an Assistant Director. Deal is the director of media for Lobo football and also serves as the primary contact for softball and GoLobos.com. He started at UNM in June of 2006 and has served as the media contact for multiple sports. Prior to taking over his football duties in March of 2010, Deal served as the primary contact for Lobo women's basketball. During his tenure, he has also worked with both soccer programs and women's golf. His responsibilities include producing media guides, press releases, statistics, filling interview requests and game day management. While at New Mexico, Deal has assisted in graphics for media guides and helped introduce video streaming with audio on GoLobos.com. He has provided broadcasts for soccer and softball. Prior to coming to New Mexico, Deal spent the 2005-06 academic year working at the UAB as a media relations assistant. During that time, Deal was the media relations contact for women's soccer and softball, while assisting in the publicity for all Blazer sports. Deal started his career at Wichita State University, where he spent three years as a student in the media relations department. During his time, Deal served as the main contact for several sports, including men's and women's tennis and cross country. He also served as the secondary contact for the WSU softball team. While in Wichita, Deal spent two seasons in minor league baseball working the Wichita Wranglers (Double A Affiliate of the Kansas City Royals) of the Texas League. Deal assisted in season ticket sales as well as serving as the media relations coordinator. A native of Stillwater, Okla., Deal earned his bachelor's degree in Sport Administration from Wichita State University in May of 2004 and his master's degree in Sport Administration at WSU in 2010. Prior to attending WSU, Deal graduated from Northern Oklahoma College in May of 2002 with an associate's degree in Mass Communications. |
