ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The only remaining undefeated teams in Mountain West play square off 7 p.m. Wednesday at Dreamstyle Arena as The University of New Mexico women’s basketball team hosts Boise State.
The Lobos overcame their worst home shooting game of the season, including starting the game 12-for-46 from the field, and a 12-point, third-quarter deficit to defeat Nevada 72-68 on Saturday at Dreamstyle Arena.

UNM trailed 41-29 midway through the third quarter before outscoring the Wolf Pack – who had their five-game winning streak snapped – 34-11 over the next 10 minutes to take a 63-52 lead and held on down the stretch for the victory.

The Lobos got 18 points and seven rebounds from junior post Jaisa Nunn, Tesha Buck had 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists, Alex Lapeyrolerie had 14 points (all in the second half), six rebounds and three steals and freshman Madi Washington gave UNM a spark off the bench with 14 points and a career-high seven rebounds.

Boise State has jumped out to a 2-0 start to the Mountain West season with a win at Colorado State, 62-58, and a win at home over UNLV, 69-60, on Saturday.

In the win over the Rebels, the Broncos got 28 points from Riley Lupfer as she went 7-for-14 from 3-point range as Boise State went 12-for-22 overall from long distance. Marta Hermida had 10 points as well for the Broncos.

Boise State enters Wednesday’s game one of the top defensive teams in the conference as the Broncos are third in points allowed per game (59.8) and second in field goal percentage defense (37.5 percent). Boise State is second in the conference in scoring margin at 10.2 (only behind UNM’s 15.1 as they are the only two teams above 8.0 points per game). The Broncos are tops in the conference on the glass as their plus-8.8 rebounding margin is easily tops in the Mountain West – more than doubling second-place Nevada.

The Broncos are led in scoring by Riley Lupfer and her 13.3 points per game (12th in the conference). She’s second in the conference in 3-pointers per game (3.0) and is eighth in 3-point percentage (40.2). Marta Hermida is also averaging double figures in scoring (10.2) while also adding 6.1 rebounds per contest.
