ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. –– New Mexico senior men’s golfer Bastien Amat has been selected to compete at the 2024 Arnold Palmer Cup. Amat was one of 12 men’s players selected to the International Team that will compete this summer in the international competition that annually features top men’s and women’s collegiate golfers from the United States against collegiate golfers from around the world.

This year’s competition will be held July 5-7 at the famed Irish Links at Lahinch Golf Club. Located on the west coast of Ireland, Lahinch Golf Club was founded in 1892 and is consistently ranked in the Top 50 golf courses in world golf.

Amat, who will represent his home nation of France on the International Team, becomes the third Lobo to compete in the Arnold Palmer Cup, joining James Erkenbeck (United States, 2013) and Sam Choi (International, 2020).

Currently ranked No. 22 in the national individual rankings, Amat has had a standout senior season for the Lobos. He has posted two wins this season, at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational and the John Burns Intercollegiate, among five top-five finishes in 11 events. His stroke average of 70.15 is on pace to be the second-lowest in UNM history for a single season.

The Lobos will begin the postseason later this week at the Mountain West Championship, held April 26-28 in Creswell, Ore.
