This Season - Returning for his final season of racing, Jacob joins Jennifer Delich as the only three-year letterwinners on this year's squad...Jacob had a strong season in 2003 and hopes to continue that this year with another trip to the NCAA Championships. Junior (2003) - Finished ranked 24th in the RMISA Classic and 22nd in the RMISA Freestyle...His best Classic finish of the season was 15th at the Western State 10K on February 7, 2003 and was also a career-high...His best finish in the freestyle was also at Western State when he scored another career-high 10th place finish in the 15K on February 8, 2003...Zehnder qualified and competed in the NCAA Championships where he placed 36th in the Classic and 38th in the freestyle, earing the Lobos valuable points along the way...He was also a member of the 2003 NCAA Academic All-America team. Sophomore (2002) - Zehnder had four top-20 finishes in the 2002 collegiate season...His best finish in the Classic race was 13th in UNM's relay at Red River, N.M., on February 9, 2002...His best freestyle finish was 11th place at the Denver 1.4K Sprint in Fraser, Colorado, on January 26, 2002...Finished the RMISA season ranked 37th in the Classic and 22nd in the freestyle in the conference. Freshman (2001) - Competed well for the Lobos during his first year on the team...he made vast strides in his skiing as well as in the classroom...He was one of the top-20 skiers in the region and was also on UNM's Academic Honor Roll. High School - Jacob graduated from Harbor Light Christian School in Harbor Springs, Michigan, where he was both a scholar and an athlete...A member of the National Honor Society, Jacob was also a Junior Olympic All-American. Personal - Born on May 24, 1981, Zehnder is a native of Harbor Springs, Michigan...He is the son of Dave and Mary Zehnder...he enjoys any activites that keep him outside and active, including biking, climbing and sailing... Jacob is majoring in Statistics and Psychology. |
