Sauer and Hellebostad Named ESPN the Magazine Academic All-AmericansUniversity of New Mexico student-athletes Jon Sauer and Tor-Hakon Hellebostad were named to the 2009 ESPN the Magazine Men's At-Large Academic All-America® Teams today. The teams are selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Sauer, a member of the Lobo men's golf team, was named to the second team, while Hellebostad, an all-American skier, was named to the third team.5/29/2009
Kroisleitner Named RMISA Alpine Ski Coach of the YearUniversity of New Mexico Alpine ski coach Martin Kroisleitner has been named the 2009 Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association Alpine Coach of the Year. The RMISA announced its end-of-season awards following the association's spring meetings in Salt Lake City. Alaska Anchorage's Trond Flagstad was named RMISA Nordic Coach of the Year, while Colorado's Vegard Kjoelhamar and Denver's Antje Maempel were named RMISA Male and Female Athletes of the Year.4/9/2009
Lobo Ski Team Announces Annual Team AwardsThe University of New Mexico ski team announced its annual team awards at the end of season banquet on March 24, along with the 2009 Wells Fargo Corporate Cup season awards. Head coach Fredrik Landstedt introduced the NCAA third-place Lobos and announced the 2009 Team Most Valuable Players - Petter Brenna (men's Alpine), Martin Kaas (men's Nordic) and Polina Ermoshina (women's Nordic). Stefanie Demetz, Malin Hemmingsson and Estelle Pecherand-Charmet shared the women's Alpine award.4/6/2009

Lobos Take 3rd Place at 2009 NCAA National Ski ChampionshipsThe University of New Mexico ski team will be bringing a third-place trophy from the 2009 NCAA National Ski Championships back to Albuquerque. UNM scored 602 points to finish third, just 0.5 points behind second-place Colorado with 602.5, today in Maine. Denver won the national title with 659 points. It is the third time in the last six seasons the Lobos have finished in the top 3 at the national finals. "This is exciting for us," said Lobo head coach Fredrik Landstedt. UNM will arrive back in Albuquerque on Sunday, March 15, around 7:30 p.m. at the Sunport. |
