18 New Mexico track & field athletes looks to advance to the NCAA Championships this weekend
Joe Franklin's Lobos are sending their best athletes to fight for a chance to compete at the NCAA Outdoor Championships
For the men, seven individuals claimed 10 total honors, while nine women and a relay team scored 12 total selections.
The Lobo women racked up 145.5 team points over the four-day meet, while the men combined for 149
The Lobo women are in second place while the men sit in third after the third day of action at the MW Track Championships.
The Lobos played host to some of the premier institutions across the nation at the Don Kirby Invite, Feb. 10, 2012.
2012 Indoor: Participated in six meets, all in the pole vault...Opened with a victory at the NAU Lumberjack Open, clearing 12-5 1/2...Tied for second at the Cherry & Silver Invitational with a mark of 12-3 1/2...Cleared a season-high 12-9 1/2 at the New Mexico Invitational, taking first in the process...Vaulted 12-9 at the New Mexico Classic, tying for sixth...Finished 10th at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational with a 12-4 1/2 mark...Took fifth at the Mountain West Indoor Championships, clearing 12-7 1/2.
2012 Outdoor: Vaulted at eight meets...Notched a mark of 12-10 at the UTEP Springtime Invitational to place third...Took 11th at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays and 13th at the Mt. SAC Relays with identical 12-7 1/2 marks...Tied for second at the Don Kirby Tailwind Invitational and took sixth at the Beach Invitational with vaults of 12-6 1/2...Claimed second at the Brutus Hamilton Open with a 12-5 1/2 mark...Posted a season-best mark of 12-11 1/2 at the Front Range Classic to claim third...At the MW Outdoor Championships, finished eighth with a 12-3 1/2 clearance.
2011 Indoor: Competed in six meets, all in the pole vault...First-place finish at the Lobo Open with a mark of 12-5 1/2 (3.80m)...Finished sixth at the Cherry and Silver Invitational, reaching a season-best 13-1 1/2 (4.00m)...Second place at the UNM Invitational with a mark of 12-9 1/2 (3.90m)...Notched another sixth-place finish at New Mexico Classic & Multis, vaulting 12-9 1/2 (3.90m)...Logged back-to-back fourth-place finishes at the Don Kirby Invite, with a mark of 12-10 (3.91m), and the MWC Indoor Championship, with a similar mark of 12-101/4 (3.92m).
2011 Outdoor: Pole vaulted at eight different meets...Third-place finish in the pole vault at the UNM Tailwind Invitational with a mark of 13 3/4 (3.98m)...Recorded a personal-best and school-record mark of 13-3 3/4 (4.06m) at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays...Finished fifth at the UTEP Invitational, vaulting 12-11 3/4 (3.96m)...Sixth place at the Brutus Invitational with a mark of 12-2 (3.71m)...Notched tenth place at the Steve Scott Invitational, reaching 11-9 (3.58m)...Fifth-place finish at the MWC Outdoor Championships, reaching 123/4 (3.68m)...Participated in the NCAA Division I West Regionals in Eugene, Ore.
Lettered in track for coach Tim Richey at Lawrence Central HS...Won state her sophomore year...School record holder with a 13'1" in the pole vault...Indoor and Outdoor All-American in 2009 and 2010...Also lettered in volleyball.
Daughter of Terrence, a graphics salesman, and Karen, a nurse...Has two sisters, Sarah and Chelsea, both of whom played volleyball at Hanover College...Her father also played basketball at Hanover...Hobbies include cat naps, cooking, and singing spontaneously...Favorite athlete is Yelena Isinbayeva...Favorite food is sushi...Majoring in Environmental science and Anthropology.
