LARAMIE, Wyo. - University of New Mexico sophomore Brian Wilson became the first Lobo to score in the decathlon since 2005 with a sixth place finish today at the Mountain West Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The Estancia, N.M. product scored 6,186 points - only three off of fifth place - in his first career decathlon.

Deming, N.M. product, Dan Feltman was the last Lobo to score in the 10-event competition, winning the MWC title in 2005 en route to a berth in the NCAA Championships.

After finishing day one in sixth place, Wilson posted a season best in the hurdles with a fourth place finish and time of 15.23. In the discus throw, Wilson notched a fourth place finish with a throw of 106-05 and moved in to fifth place. After a 12-07.50 jump in the pole vault Wilson slipped back in to sixth place.

Wilson finished the competition with a second place finish in the javelin with a toss of 163-09 and a time of 5:19.42 in the 1,500m.
