Derek Mackel floats above the earth momentarily on his way over the 17' 3.5" bar at the MWC meet.

 Mackel began his national ascent in the pole vault at the Modrall Sperling Lobo Invitational.

 The Sandia High School product reacts as the Convention Center crowd cheers his career-best 17-11.00 clearance at the Lobo Invite.
The first UNM pole vaulters to compete at the NCAA Championships together, Caldwell and Mackel are interviewed by Steven Fernandez of the Daily Lobo at the MWC Championship meet.

 Sophomore Kristan Matison became the first Lobo in five years to score in the 60m dash (7th) after missing the school record by one hundredth of a second in the prelims.

 Junior Randle McCain takes the baton in the 4x400 relay from sophomore Kurt Henry. McCain, Henry, Taylor Siemon and Jarrin Solomon went on to earn all-MWC honors with a third place finish at the conference meet.
Sophomore Domnick Meadows spread his wings at the MWC Championships, flying a career-best 46-08.75 - the best in head coach Matt Henry's tenure - in the triple jump.

 First team all-MWC selections in cross country, Leslie Luna (left) and Timmie Murphy continued their success running the 3K indoors.

 Tiyana Peters was one of the MWC's best high jumpers in her first indoor season.
